Ilja Reijngoud en Elizabeth Simonian: Around The World
Dear all,
I am looking forward and very curious about a new small project that has been put together by Ilja Rijngoud and myself called 'Around the world'.
I will also have the honor of playing with some exquisit musicians that I myself really admire. I hope you can find one of these dates to come and have a listen!

Around The World
Ilja Reijngoud- recently awarded an Edison for The Shakespeare album, has put together a new musical project along with the young and talented Elizabeth Simonian.
Born on the island of Cyprus to a Swedish mother and Armenian father, Elizabeth found her way to Holland to study music where she graduated with honours from the Rotterdam Conservatory last year. Her music like her rich and diverse background brings a unique atmosphere that merges jazz, pop and world music into one.

The Around the world program is built around the sphere of Scandinavian jazz. It includes traditionals, originals by Garbarek and own compositions by Elizabeth, Ilja and piano player Kris Goessens. Music that is coloured with Swedish poetry, ancient songs and even Mediterranean influences.
On bass Eric van de Westen and on drums Marcel Serierse.

Great evening CD release | Folk Songs Project ft. Ilja Rijngoud
Dear All,
I could not have asked for a more beautiful evening for my cd release. It also happened to be my Masters exam, so I have now rounded up my Masters study and graduated once and for all! Feels wonderful actually!

We played for an almost full house in Theater Zuidplein. The atmospere was warm and both the audience and band were really present. The band and I really enjoyed ourselves and I was very moved by all the people who really wanted to be there. Even people who flew in from other countries like Sweden, Cyprus, Rumania, Portugal, England etc. I also know that there were many more of you who wanted to be there but simply could not make it.
Some videoclips will be posted on youtube and my site itself from the concert somewhere during December.

So now follows the procedure of arranging gigs and happenings and that usually needs it's precious time. Any upcoming gigs and venues will be posted here so drop by now and then to see what is new or different.
Also the coming months I will - besides my cd project - be preparing for a small 'folk songs' project with Ilja Rijngoud who by the way just won an Edison for his Cd with Fay Claassen 'The Shakespear album'. I will keep you posted on any upcoming gigs within that project too. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll have the honour of playing with some fantastic musicians.

'Elizabeth Simonian is een zeer veelzijdige muzikant met een prachtige lichte stem en een brede muzikale achtergrond. Ze beheerst veel stijlen, is stilistisch zeer wendbaar en weet in elk orkest en elk project waaraan ze mee doet een zeer persoonlijke en sterk stempel te drukken.

I'm very proud to announce the release double concert of my debut CD 'So it goes'.
Finally it's about to happen and I can't wait to bring out my music!
