ABOUT ME

Approach and method

beti site.jpg

I let myself be guided in life by Connection, Deepening, Refinement, and Freedom. These principles also guide me in my work. I am a Somatic Experiencing® practitioner, NARM® master therapist, somatic sexuality healing practitioner, and SOMA embodiment practitioner. This forms my approach and methodology in working with people. Furthermore, I am an integrative therapist and I work with the listening intervention SSP (Safe and Sound Protocol) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) for trauma.

It moves me to be able to support someone in (re)discovering their connection to themselves and the world. When I'm not working in my practice, I assist at trainings and courses such as Somatic Experiencing and the full embodiment trainings by Ariel Giarretto.

For more than 20 years, I worked as a voice coach and singer. Music and the voice still remain close to my heart. I strongly believe in the strength of softness.

NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM)

NARM was developed by Dr. Laurence Heller and focuses specifically on working with survival styles that can arise in response to developmental trauma. Through these mechanisms, which have outlived their initial usefulness, we split off from our authentic self and create distance from others. Exploring together which parts of the self want to be reintegrated and what stands in the way of connection with others is at the heart of NARM.

Somatic Experiencing®

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented stress and trauma therapy developed by Peter Levine. Trauma can be large or small, one-time (shock trauma) or ongoing (complex trauma). A good description of trauma is that which happened to us too much, too soon, or too fast to process and integrate. It can hold us firmly in its grip, preventing us from living freely in the here and now. Trauma lives in our body, in our nervous system. By slowing down and taking the time to notice what is happening inside of us, somatic experiencing offers a safe way of helping the body release unresolved trauma and stress. This creates more inner space to reconnect with yourself and the world around you. Polyvagal theory, or the science of helping you feel safe, aligns beautifully with this.

As a deepening within my work as a somatic experiencing practitioner, I also work as a somatic sexuality healing practitioner. This is an in-depth training in trauma-informed, body-oriented work with sexuality and sexual trauma based on somatic experiencing principles.

SOMA Embodiment®

SOMA Embodiment® was developed by Sonia Gomes and has its roots in Somatic Experiencing and Rolfing, among others. Trauma disrupts the natural, rhythmic flow of our organism. Through touch and movement, SOMA Embodiment offers tools to restore this flow and create space for our self-healing capacity, allowing more physical stability as well as better emotional regulation.

Resource Therapy

Resource therapy is a psychotherapy focused on trauma processing. It is based on the idea that we as humans consist of different parts (resources) available to us. Through emotional processing, we can create new neural pathways that promote change. Resource therapy is a form of therapy that knows how to directly find the part of us that needs help.

I am affiliated with the Dutch association of integrative therapists (VIT) and SCAG.

Chamber of Commerce number: 24461898

A session lasts 60 minutes and costs €125 (VAT-free). Different rates apply for businesses. If you qualify for an adjusted rate, please contact me to explore possibilities together.

I offer sessions in English, Dutch, and Swedish. Sessions are available both in-person at my practice in Rotterdam (NL) and online.

***At this time, I cannot accept new clients due to a long waiting list.***

FOR WHOM

After an initial consultation, we always determine together how to proceed. Sometimes a short amount of two to three sessions is sufficient, while in other situations a longer therapeutic process is desirable. This depends on what you are wanting for yourself. Below are some examples of how I can offer you support and guidance.

Your voice

What makes the human voice so special and moving is its ability to directly translate feelings and thoughts into sound and song. This makes it beautiful, powerful, vulnerable, and for some, even scary to use. Taking up space and making yourself heard isn't always easy, especially for people experiencing the effects of trauma. Singing is often a desire to express our deepest selves and be heard. The voice is directly connected to who you are and carries far more potential than most of us have ever discovered.
